Veterinary Training – A Qualification In High Demand
If you excel at the sciences and love animals then you should consider exploring veterinary training and becoming an expert in animal care. This is a field where not only can you help improve the quality of life for animals but you can be well rewarded financially for your services.
Veterinary scientists and veterinary technologists/technicians are in high demand. This should come as no surprise. Millions of people In the US and Canada love their pets and are willing to spend good money to see those pets in the best of health.
But it may come as a surprise to you that the skills learned in veterinary training are not just applied to animal care. As a matter of fact, research breakthroughs in diseases affecting animals have been applied to human medicine. After all, many diseases affect both animals and humans.
It takes a special personality to become a veterinarian. It is a given that you need to be compassionate and patient when dealing with animals. But you also need to have a strong constitution to handle the sight of bloody animals. You need to be able to make the tough decisions – deciding that it is best to euthanize an animal rather than trying to treat it.
You should also be interested in understanding animal behavior, habits and the physical systems that they have. You need to be physically fit to be able to lift and restrain animals as well.
Not to mention the academic requirements you need to have. For entry into the veterinary science degree program, you need to excel at the sciences and mathematics.
Another way to demonstrate you early commitment to veterinary training is to get volunteer with your local animal shelter or vet. In fact, it is critical to being accepted into veterinary college that you show that you are committed to animal welfare outside of school as well as inside.
Prior to entry into the doctor of veterinary medicine program (DVM), you need to ensure the program is appropriately accredited. There are not many colleges in the US that offer accredited veterinary degrees. Neither can veterinary science training to be done online. So be careful of schools claiming to offer online DVM programs.
If you feel that veterinary training is not for you, consider doing a certificate in any of the various aspects of animal care. For example, you could do a certificate in dog obedience training or pet grooming.
These in general won’t pay as well as having veterinary training. However if you manage to provide obedience training or pet grooming services to an affluent clientele – you can make serious money.

When it comes to choosing a science fair project there are many different topics to choose from. First you should pick a category that interests you. There are 10 basic categories to choose from:
?Astronomy, which is the study of the stars, planets, solar system and universe.
?Biology, which is the study of all living things including humans, animals & plants.
?Zoology, which is the study of animals.
?Chemistry, which is the study of substances and it’s transformations.
?Earth Science, which is the study of the Earth.
?Engineering, which is the functioning of a machine or mechanism.
?Environmental, which is the study of sources and their control; ecology, recycling, reclamation, restoration, composting, acid rain, affects of pollution.
?Microbiology, which is the study of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungus and yeast.
?Physical Science, which is the study of matter and energy.
?Mathematics, which uses numbers and symbols to study amounts and forms.
Once you have chosen a category that interests you it’s just a matter of finding a question you would like answered in that particular category. For example, if you were to pick Zoology you could ask “How does the lifespan of a dolphin differ if they live in captivity compared to living in the wild?” and then you would research that topic to find the answer.
There are many different topics for each category so it’s all a matter of preference. If you love animals then you would likely go with biology or zoology and pick a topic from there, however if you like working with numbers to solve problems then you would be better off to pick a topic under the mathematics category.

7th Grade Science Project Ideas Made Fun and Easy
Your 7th grade science project is likely to be more involved than the projects you have done in previous years. The science fair at your school is probably more competitive for your age group, and there is a good chance your peers will be putting a lot more time and effort into their projects than they have in previous years. You will want to do the same for your project. There are endless possibilities when it comes to choosing a project to do.
One interesting idea for a 7th grade science project is to see which type of cheese will grow mold the fastest. This is a great project because it is not only interesting, but still fairly simple. There are so many different kinds of cheese out there, but you will only need to choose three or four types to experiment with, such as Parmesan, cottage cheese, and Swiss cheese to start with. Put a slice (or scoop in the case of the cottage cheese) of cheese onto a paper plate and set the three plates in the same area. Make sure one of them is not going to get sun part of the day and the others are not. Be very careful to keep your experiment away from pets and small children as mold is bacteria and it can make people and animals very ill. After putting the samples in the safe place, check the cheese each day and see which one starts to mold first. Remember to dispose of it as soon as it starts to mold to avoid making anyone sick.
Another seventh grade science project idea might be to see if you can grow a plant without soil. You can try placing seeds in various things such as a wet paper towel, grass clippings, coffee grounds, or other similar substances to see if they will grow.
